District Attorney Krasner Announces Charges for North Philly Rooming House Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 4, 2020) — District Attorney Larry Krasner on Friday announced Attempted Murder and related charges against Jabari Wallace (DOB: 7/14/1995) for his role in an early morning shooting in a North Philadelphia rooming house last May.

Wallace is alleged to have shot a 22-year-old man in the legs multiple times at a rooming house on the 1300 block of West York Street on May 7, 2020. Following an investigation led by the Philadelphia Police, Wallace was identified positively based on eyewitness and forensic evidence. He has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder (F1), Aggravated Assault (F1), VUFA 6106 (F3), VUFA 6108 (M1), and related charges.

“I want to thank Philadelphia Police Department detectives for their diligence in seeking justice for this case. Shootings in which there is no apparent connection between offender and victim, which seems to apply here, can be incredibly challenging to solve. Equally disturbing is the possible role of a ghost gun, or untraceable firearm that can easily be purchased on the internet by anyone at any time,” District Attorney Krasner said. “My office will continue to use all of the tools in our tool box to bring fatal and non-fatal shooting cases to trial, but we simply need more and better tools — starting with sensible regulations to stem and control the flow of firearms in the United States.”

A preliminary hearing for Wallace is scheduled for Sept. 17th at 9:00 a.m.
